As the Fall season sets in, temperatures drop and the Sun sets earlier each day.  While we are all busy enjoying the weather it is important to remember that this time of year is perfect cover for petty criminals.  Here are a few simple tips that will help to keep you from being a victim of theft.

Put on those lights! Criminals don’t like bright lights.  A carefully placed floodlight on a motion sensor is an economical way to prevent people from lurking in the shadows.

Lock those doors! Most vehicle thefts are spontaneous events.  If a thief is confronted with a locked door it is likely that he will move on to the next car.

Keep your valuables in the house! You would not believe how many people will leave valuable electronics like laptops and GPS units in an unlocked car.  Lock your ca

Where are your serial numbers? When we solve a burglary one of our priorities is returning property to the rightful owner.  That is why it is important to keep those serial numbers listed somewhere.

Don’t be afraid to call! You know what is normal for your neighborhood and what is out of the ordinary.  If you see any suspicious activities don’t hesitate to call us at 732-727-4444.

Team Sayreville 2011

Anyone want to take a bike ride…….to Washington D.C.?  As incredible as it sounds members of our department did just that last week when they joined several hundred other Officers from around the country and rode from Ground Zero to the Pentagon.  The 340 mile trip was completed in four days and raised over four hundred thousand dollars for families of Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty.

Established in 2001 by a core group of NYPD Officers this event continues to grow.  In addition to it’s fundraising success the event raises awareness of the sacrifice members of the thin blue line make every day.  This year our team included riders Sergeants Sean O’Donnell and Peter Skarzynski, Officer Keith Grausam, and Chief John Zebrowski.  Equally important was the participation of our support crew of Sergeant William Gottstine, Ruben Salgado and Rich Jurkiewicz who provided repair and logistical support for the ride.
