Our Explorer Post is active year round and thanks to Chief David Volk and the members of the Perth Amboy Fire Department our Explorers recently participated in an exciting field adventure. The day started with a tour of the Perth Amboy Fire Department boat, Marine 5, which is moored at their Municipal Boat Basin. The Explorers learned about the many special skills involved in fighting ship board fires and performing water rescues under many different conditions. During the instructional period they were treated to some of the most incredible water front views as Marine 5 traveled through the Arthur Kill and in to New York Harbor.

We are grateful to the Perth Amboy Fire Department for their hospitality and providing a realistic overview of their profession.

2011 Willabees Camp

We have many partners in our effort to prevent children from using drugs and alcohol. Among them are the dedicated teachers of our community who give their time to the Willabees program. Teachers from Eisenhower, Wilson, Truman, Arleth, Our Lady of Victories, and the Sayreville Upper Elementary School volunteer each summer to run a camp at the Public Safety Complex. This year 108 elementary school kids had a chance to enjoy many fun and educational programs and positively interact with Sayreville Officers Scott Poetsch and Keith Grausam [who probably had as much fun as the kids]. We are very thankful to these wonderful teachers who give so freely of their time during their much needed summer vacation.
